new potatoes

just finished digging my potatoes and almost every one had a rotten looking spot on it. some would have 4 or 5 spots anywhere from bb size up to half a dime. what am I looking at, soil disease or what. Any help would be appreciated.

Most likely a soil borne disease like Black Scurf. http://www.potato.org.uk/media-gallery/detail/13214/2636 There are lots of diseases of Irish potatoes. http://www.potato.org.uk/gallery/potato-diseases
