I had to do some "guidance work" with my Fortex pole beans, even though I planted all my pole beans very close to the trellis. The rest found the trellis on their own. I didn't tie any of the Fortex to the trellis but just pushed the wandering tendrils between the squares until they'd all wrapped around the wires. Sometimes it took only a couple of hours for the tendrils to grab hold.

Tying them to the trellis will not hurt them.

Gently teaching the baby vines to climb is actually one of my favorite parts of gardening.

Some seem to get the hang of it right away, others need to be put back in place several times. Kind of like children learning new things. LOL
