Lots of Questions re Veg Garden - Newbie

Carole Westgaard

I've only grown tomatoes and basil (because that's all I had room for). Now I have a new place and a first real garden and am stumped - do I feed/fertilize the green and red and hot peppers? They're producing! Is it too late to plant more beans and peas? Rabbits got some of both of them and the heat here in Colorado this year is (I think) part of the problem with less-than-lush growth of both. Whatabout spinach? It looks great but is beginning to put out little 'flower' tops - is it still good to eat. A neighbor said it will be tough but I tasted it and it seems fine. Why does the arugula have white dots and tiny holes - it tastes fine but looks awful and I see no bugs. Do the nasturtiums need fertilizer? The leaves are so small (size of pennies and I've seen them the size of half-dollars and bigger) - love them in salads. And is there some type of lettuce that I can plant now? I'm lost - anybody want to tackle all my questions? I'd be a lot less miserable.

PS What can I plant now in this heat? It's been in the mid-90's for a month.
