I don't think anyone has had to deal with that situation, but I think your instincts are correct. I've found favas can take some heat once they have grown a bit, although I doubt they could take 103F. Give it a shot.

Ania I wanted to ask in what market did you find fresh fava beans?

If you live in a place that has air conditioner, keep them inside by a window and take them out when it cools down. If you live in Southern California this might not happen until December, but some years it is earlier. Favas took quite a while to grow for me (I'd say 90 days or so).

There is a produce market not too far from me in Sun Valley, CA called Sunland produce. They have a lot of veggies not available in regular supermarkets. They have mostly local produce. They have had fresh Fava's the last 3 times I've been there. I love them just steamed with salt as a snack.

I love Sunland produce! we grow pretty much all the produce we eat day to day, but we count on Sunland produce when we cook for a party. Last time I was there, in early spring, they had fresh chickpea shellies! What a treat. I will have to make my way over there more often. Thanks for telling me! It also appears that someone local or semi local is doing a lot better than we did with the favas...

We will see what happens with my fava's. Right now, the plants are growing really fast so I don't know how much longer I can keep them inside.
