| Yesterday, I harvested my first mess of these beans, sauteed them in a little butter for 2-3 minutes and they tasted...delicious!!! A wonderful, distinct nutty flavor and an excellent texture. Sure does beat the bush Blue Lakes I have been growing for the past several years.
For those who are interested, this is the bean recommended by Carol Deppe in "The Resilient Gardener". She claims it can produce in heavy shade, and I have so far found that to be true. My plants are growing in 2-3 hours of direct sun per day in one of the shadiest spots in my garden, and so far have heavier pod sets than the other snap varieties I am growing in more sunlight. I obtained my seeds from Adaptive Seeds in Oregon and they are also listed by a member of SSE in the yearbook. |
