Bean leaves look like swiss cheese

Posting from work so I don't currently have a pic, but something is eating my bean leaves. There are perfectly round holes about the size of a pencil eraser sporadically across the leaves of my plants.

What is doing this and what can I do to stop it?

I just noticed this yesterday and it is early in the process, so not a lot of damage has occurred yet. Thanks.

Check to see whether you have Japanese beetles...they can defoliate a plant in no time.

For me, same problem... it was mexican bean beetles... they look a little like a brown ladybug.

and I thiiiiink I had some fungas gnats as well. Not 100% on the latter ID though. They were little black flies with wings that were super easy to crush by hand just by gently squeezing the leaves... not aphids.
