Two things to think about: boxed up in hot weather the peas are probably going to "sour". They will begin to go through a "heat" much like staking green hay in a haystack without letting it dry first. You would need peas which were picked this morning, packed and mailed overnight. The same goes for okra. It might wilt and go sour packed up without air circulation. Unless you are making okra pickles, I would think you would do just as well to buy frozen okra. Frozen peas, too. We often buy frozen okra and peas in winter and they are as good as the frozen ones we put up ourselves. I guess that is all contingent on whether they sell peas and okra in Colorado.
