how to handle side shoots

i'm growing "king of garden" pole limas. i've planted them 6 inches apart, and they are traveling up their assigned string nicely. they'll often get a second, or third vine branching off of the main one. what do i do with these? cut them off? guide them onto the string with the other vine that is already there? if so, there will be 2/3/+ vines on one string.

I never trim of side shoots, rather letting them take care of themselves. If you have strings fairly close together they will find a string. If you see that they are too crowded this year, then next time, space them out some more. But for now I'd let nature take its course.
