bean leaves turning brown and crunchy

My first planting of Earlyserve green bean plants have problems. More than half the plants are wilting, turning brown and drying up. This is the first time I've had a problem like this. I first noticed the wilt about two weeks ago. Today I pulled out a whole of plants that were definately dying. Plants are just started to bloom. My later plantings and the 3 other types of green beans I'm growing still look fine. They have been watered adequently. Any ideas of what is going on?

It's my understanding that peas prefer cooler weather and are best planted in early spring or late summer for a fall harvest. I wonder if the wilting and browning are signs that it's gotten too warm in your area...what zone are you in? Beans on the otherhand thrive in the sun and prefer hotter weather. Hope this helps!
