Insect damage saving seeds

deanriowa

I checked my bush beans yesterday and most of the leaves have been eaten by something most likely grasshoppers, katydids, or possibly aphids. The beans themselves were not touched and the beans have turned a slight yellow with age, will these beans continue growing for seed saving?

The insects totally ignored multiple rows of cowpeas in-between the snap beans. Any ideas on what the insects they might have been?

What a year, major flooding and now insect damage, worst year of gardening in memory of everyone I have talked to and it is raining heavily now, off course. :(

thanks,

Dean
