Snow Peas grew 2-3 ft taller than normal

I ordered from a local company some Dwarf Grey Sugar snow peas to grow. Planted them. Ended up with a variety with white flowers(I thought dwarf grey sugar were purple flowered?) Which was the first sign to me that I may have been sent the wrong peas. So I look up on the local website again. They only carry 2 varieties of snow peas. The other is Oregon Sugar Pod and says its supposed to top out at 30 inches tall. Well my pea plants are now 5 ft tall and still seem to be growing even as they are producing peas. Not sure what I did but has this ever happened to anyone else before? Didn't know pea plants could grow twice the height they were meant to be... some of the tops are actually breaking because my trellis is only 4 feet tall!
