Puzzled.

I planted a teepee of Emerite and a teepee of Fortex side by side in the same raised bed the first week of August. I added no fertilizer to the soil. It had been a tomato bed the first part of the season.

I have been picking Emerite for more than two weeks now. So far, I have had only a couple hands full of Fortex. The Fortex vines are so thick, the leaves so green and large, that I can hardly find the beans. Again, I added no extra nitrogen or anything else at planting time.

Can anyone explain?

Fortex is always later than Emerite for me. I couldn't put a timeframe on my experience (no detailed records), but catalog DTMs seem to be about 58 days for Emerite and 70 days for Fortex.

I think they should kick into gear any time now.
