Pole Lima Beans

My lima beans have lots of pods but the beans are taking a very long time to mature. The beans were planted in either late May or early June. It is not the end of October. Lots of pods and very small beans. Very few beans have gotten large enough to harvest. Any idea why they are taking so long to mature.

what variety did you plant?

There are a couple of very long season lima beans that take about 5 months to make a crop. You might also have had a problem with them not setting a crop in the summer heat.

I find that some varieties such as king of the garden, christmas, willow leaf, north pole and most large types hardly ever produce until the nights are cooler.

I planted Florida speckled butter beans. The ones that matured were really good. I know why they're called butter beans. It's just so disappointed that I didn't have more to eat.
