fillet beans

Would appreciate knowing your favourite fillet bean. I sell to a restaurant and caterer and would really like to find a beautiful and prolific bean to grow next year. I have tried the usual - good but nothing spectacular. I have been buying the fresh fillet beans from Costco for our use at this time of year and would love to find something like that.
Thanks

I agree with what Digdirt and Zeedman recommended in your other thread - Fortex and/or Emerite.

You might want to consider planting BOTH if possible.

I've grown Fortex the last two seasons. In 2008, it produced like gangbusters. In 2009, I planted twice as much and, because of a long cold and wet Spring, harvested 75% less - not a good year for Fortex.

If it wasn't for other more tolerant beans, we wouldn't have had a harvest at all.

So, that's why I say "Hedge Your Bet", plant two (or more) varieties!

Fortex is a wonderful snap pole bean. It can be harvested at the small stage for a fillet type bean or at a length of 9" or so when it is the diameter of a pencil.

Rick and others have reported low yields sometimes. I can't say, as I've only grown it once.

RE: fillet beans

Thanks very much. I have grown both those types. I grew three type of pole beans (fortex, yellow and purple) and also two types of bush beans. Loved the pole beans as they were so easy to pick and good as long as I kept picking a regular basis. The bush were good and no matter what the length stayed tender but hard on my back to pick.
I am planning for next season to grow both types again but plant successional and alot more.
Anymore suggestions would be greatly appreciated
