Beans still going strong...

I thought I'd tell y'all - my beans continue to grow - most are Rattlesnake, Hilda Romano, and Merchant of Venice (a yellow Romano), but even a few Kentucky Wonders and Harry's Black Jungle Butterbeans are still producing. I picked 4.5 pounds of beans this morning because they are predicting 30 tonight, but we've lucked out for the last 3 times that temp was predicted. Some of the really high up beans (about 7 feet high on cattle fence bent into an arch) looked kind of puny last week when temps got low, but they took off again in the warm days.

There are still flowers on many of the beans - even the few bush beans left are trying to produce flowers. The fava beans are now about 9 inches tall and straining to get to the sun, but good and healthy looking.

This has been a very weird year for gardening - not complaining, but I'd thought the beans would be done, done, done by now. Anyone else enjoying the bounty of a delayed frost?

Cindy
