Still looking for seed!

I'm not sure who to contact, but someone at Clemson should be able to help. I used to buy them from Park Seed back in the late 1980's.

Hercules - Breeder: South Carolina Agric. Expt. Sta., Clemson. Characteristics: semi-erect plant habit; medium maturity; pods are straight, 22 cm long; pod color at green shell stage, green; large, coffee colored, crowder type seeds. Cowpea Newsletter, 1(2):7-14, 1986. 1981.

Members of Southern legacy seeds can request seed from the seed bank of the Hercules pea. Joining this group helps save southern heirloom varieties. I also have seed but none to offer this year. I will be doing a large growout for the 2011 season and this seed will be available for 2012 from Southern Exposure seeds and Heavenly seeds. Rodger Winn

I ran into something unusual a few days ago at a local feed and seed store. They had a brochure from Wax Seed Company in Amory Mississippi. The brochure listed Hercules and Colossus in bulk quantities. They do NOT sell retail so it won't help to call them. I will see if my local store can get a few pounds of seed for next year.
