I would like to grow herbs in my kitchen during the winter. Can 1 or 2 desk lamps accommodate strong enough bulbs for eight 6-inch herb pots? What wattage CFL bulbs would you suggest? How many lumens and what K bulb should I get? If desk lamps will not work for this amount of herbs, is there a lighting system that is aesthetically appealing or at least does not look industrial? The top of the refrigerator is visible from multiple points in my house. I thought desk lamps would look nicer up there than the usual industrial grow lamps.

Is there some chart or reference for matching grow lights with plants- perhaps something like the table in the middle of the webpage in the link below but with an additional column indicating plant light requirements - full sun, partial sun, partial shade, full shade?
