Growing under Lights

Any good books on growing plants under lights?

I've been growing plants under basic Plant and Aquarium fluorescents for years, but I honestly haven't taken the time to learn anything about different kinds of lights available, and what are the general requirements for growing different plants. Anyone know of any good books/articles/pamphlets etc. that cover these kind of issues, particularly from the standpoint of a relative newcomer? Basically, a lot like this forum, but condensed and more organized.

Any info would be greatly appreciated!

I'm not aware of anything significant that has been written about fluorescents since the 70's and there are a lot of new tubes since then.

If you are curious about HID lights, there is a book called Growing Indoors with HID Lights by van Patten that is extremely detailed.

I just bought Tempting Tropicals by Ellen Zachos, a new book, which has about 10 pages about the different types of lights. Not a ton of detail but a good overview. The plant culture info is good for beginners, although the specific plant list tends towards the new and relatively obscure.

For specific details about different fluoro tubes, I think this forum is your best resource.
