Added 400w HPS to the Garden

Since our tomatoes are moving along quite nicely in our innovative grow, we are starting to push the fruiting process with our Big Boy and Big Momma plants. We started with a single 400w Metal Halide lamp, but we have recently added a 400w HPS to push the flowering phase a little harder. The HPS is directly over the tomatoes with some nice overlap from the MH. The rest of the plants overwintering from the patio and the spinach basil etc, still get mostly MH with minor spillover from the HPS. Here's the set-up.

In the process we also converted both of the lamps to a remote ballast style. It makes the system much more flexible and easy to hang and move around. It also made me nervous hanging that 35# fixture above our precious plants. Now the reflector/bulb/electrical box can't weigh 2-3 lbs. It is an easy conversion, and we will do a quick picture tutorial on how it is done at some point in the future if there is some interest. Plants are doing great and we have our first flowers showing up just short of 6 weeks after germination.

We have an orchid bloom that is enjoying the nice mix of light as well.

That's all for now, come on tomatoes!
