I can use an expert opinion

| Hi guys,
I am trying to grow some orchids (800-1200 lumens required) under lights during the darker winter months.
I don't want anything too serious, as the fixtures will go under a cabinet.
I was looking at getting two of this light fixtures, which are perfect for my needs/space requirements. Plants will be placed about 12 inches from the light.
What kind of 20W bulbs do you guys think it requires (Regular T12?)? Will I be able to find them easily?
Thanks for any help you can give me.
Regards, |

| I would caution against it, personally. Fixtures exactly like that sell for much less at hardware stores. Buy a few and try to find daylight/6500K bulbs at your hardware store and be done with it. The linked product doesn't even have any information on the special "grow light" that comes with it. So I'd be leary. Sam |

| as sam said, i would suggest looking into T8 4' fixture(s). very economical and phals can be easily grown under those lights alone. |

| Thanks for your quick reply. I was not able to extract from them any info on the type of bulb it uses, other than its slim... I think the product they are selling is almost exactly this one. These guys are local to me, so I'll go pick up these tomorrow. I should be able to find T10 6500K bulbs easy. Thanks! |

| This sort of one-tube fixture will likely provide sufficient light output for displaying orchids, but be poor for actually growing and flowering them. |
