Light stand for seed starting

I am looking for a plan to build my own light stand for seed starting. My requirements would be for two or three teirs and to be able to have four 12" x 21" flats on each level. Any suggestions for what I can build myself??

What's your budget?

I already have the light fixtures, so I was hoping to make a stand for no more than $150-$200. I was hoping to find a detailed plan that uses PVC or ABS pipe.

I would buy shelving - cheaper.

I made my 4 shelf stand that will hold 2or 3 trays from 1x4 pine boards for less then fifty dollars

Not sure if this helps at all.

My husband made me this for under a hundred bucks - I've used it for a few years now and I love it! I just take it apart when I need to store it and can put it back together again in a few minutes when I need it again.

Rgvnewf,

I agree with biowheel that chrome wire shelving is a better solution than building your own shelves. Sam's Club sells similar chrome wire shelving. The steel shelving is vastly stronger than anything you could make out of wood or plastic and you can set up the chrome shelves in about an hour. I usually leave out one, two, or three of the six provided shelves to make more room for the plants and lights. You can adjust the shelves anywhere in one-inch increments. Two of the wheels have brakes that you can set.
