3 tube ballasts at 90% discount for overdriving?

| There is a building supply store in La Habra, California that is going out of business, and each week they increase the discount. Right now what is left of the electrical department is 60% off original price. When I was in there today I saw a stack of electronic ballasts designed to drive three 32 watt T8 bulbs. I figure there will be absolutely no demand for a three light ballast so when the final week comes they will probably still be sitting there at 90% off, which would probably be around $2 or $3 each. Would these be good for overdriving use? And if I didn't want to overdrive but just wanted to keep them as a spare would they work in a one or two tube fixture? Also, are electronic ballasts more efficient than the old magnetic type? |

they will probably still be sitting there at 90% off, which would probably be around $2 or $3 each. Would these be good for overdriving use? Really can't say for sure, some ballasts will overdrive, some won't (but for that price its worth a gamble...you could probably sell them for profit on eBay if they don't work out) -- also try Google'ing the ballast's model # + the word "overdrive" And if I didn't want to overdrive but just wanted to keep them as a spare would they work in a one or two tube fixture? Most will...read the back of the box (or open it & read the ballast label itself) Also, are electronic ballasts more efficient than the old magnetic type? Yes they are (and will also give off less heat) |
