Where can I get the tubes

Ok All:

I have been lurking here for a while now, so most of my questions have been answered.

Last year I decided to propogate from seed indoors.

I had the usual problems (Sprouted great, but then became spindly, so I need light.

I am going to build my own light stand using PVC

I went to that other Home Center, L*wes

Here is what I have so far

(2) 48" T12 light fixtures shop light fixtures $7.50 each

(no switches)

(These have a reflector hood, I might modify one side of each so that they function as a single fixture)

(1) multi outlet timer $18

40 feet of 3/4" PVC

8 3 way corner pvc elbows

(These are threaded 1/2" on one connector, so I also got some threaded 1/2" to 3/4" adapters)

6 sets of tensionor cables to run diagonal on the back and sides of the box, to reduce flex/sway

Total spent so far about $56 bucks

I do not want to spend $40 on Light Tubes

The store I went to only had one light tube that was not in the 3000-3300 Kelvin range.

This system is just going to be for seedlings, not for prolonged growth, so if I have read corectly I want to have my kelvin up higher (5000-6500)

I want to grow hardy plants, I am not trying to get them to flower.

I have read a lot about mixing cool and warm bulbs (Pros and cons)

but first I need to find some tubes

I went to sylvania, GE and Philips web sites they all had little or no info on Kelvin for their bulbs...

I did find that GE makes a 3000, 5000, and 6500 tube.

What type of tubes do you think I should put in and where can I find them... I am wary of ordering online, I think shipping might be prohibitive

Thank you for your time

Jim
