Yeah, if you are running it off a cheap extension cord it might be.

My computer draws more power than your light so if it is wired correctly, you don't put newspapers on top or directly under it and cats or mice don't chew on wires, you shouldn't have any problems.

Get a safety Lends for your hood/reflector (which is available for most indoor grow light hoods like Hydrofarm), just in case the bulb explodes, this way you have less of a chance of fire if It does. Any yes, HID lights sometimes require 30 minutes off before they can REFIRE.

Thanks hotpepper. Is moisture the only reason for the bulb exploding? How often does that happen to most people?

I would assume that Moisture would be the biggest culprit, but running a bulb past it's rated life span is also asking for trouble. anything that burns that hot in a thin glass bulb and being pressurized can explode.

This is why I bought an expensive set up. some bulbs need certain ballasts, , some bulbs are mean to run vertical or horrizontal, all these things are
