Heating cables...will insulated tile warming wire work too?

Heating cables seem to be just about impossible to obtain anymore. Does anyone know if the insulated wire now being sold to install to warm tiles in showers might also work if paired with a thermostat? (Any tile installers who are gardeners as well out there?)

I've tried heat mats but these seem to burn out after a year.

Heating cables can be obtained pretty readily.
