I have a home-made CFL grow light using 40-watt Feit Electric full-spectrum CFL�s for seed-starting. This morning, I noticed a strange odor and saw that one of the lights was out. This is after maybe 700 hours of use max (18 hrs per day since Jan 1 or so).

My light fixtures are 10" Clamp Lights (the round Bayco lights) with a socket splitter. They don�t run particularly hot and do the trick. Could that be the cause of failure, or is it just a random occurrence?
