Can I put grow-light started seedlings by windows?

Hello folks! This is my first season starting seedlings with a plant grow light kit. I have a two-shelf set with four 48-inch flourescent tubes per shelf, and am using Jiffy peat pellets (the little one-inch ones).

I want to try butterfly gardening so I have dozens of tropical milkweed, zinnias, etc. Some of the larger, faster growing flowers have already outgrown the small peat pellets, and I've re-potted some in 2.5" peat pots.

The problem is I am running out of shelf space, and I don't want to discard any plants! If I place some larger ones in trays next to west-facing windows, would they do OK for a few weeks until I can plant them?

Thank you!

Certainly putting them there is better than shoving them in a closet or throwing them away ;)
