150 watt high pressure sodium floodlight with lamp

| Hello Everyone! I am new to gardening, anyways i have a few tomato plants i am growing indoors roughly 10 plants. I was wondering if this High Pressure Sodium lamp would suffice for Tomato seedlings that are about 8 weeks old. I am planning to buy this unit on Ebay, but would like to get some input before i commit to buying. Thanks

I am on the budget, i cant afford the 400 Watt or the 1000 W HPS lamps as they are much pricey. This is just a small scale hobby. Thanks in advance.

| HPS is generally not the best type of light. Because it is mostly yellow-orange spectrum. Better would be the CMH--ceramic metal halide. This has more red than an HPS, and more blue than a MH. If you use HPS, I recommend supplementing with natural sunlight to get the beneficial blue spectrum. Might be cheaper to go with multiple 70w HPS. Multiple lights means multiple angles of light, resulting in fewer shadows on leaf surface. |
