Overwatering with a capillary mat.

| Hello. A couple days ago I set up a system with a piece of blue jeans acting as a cheap capillary mat. I fill the reservoir with water, the jeans soak up the water, and the soil takes water from the jeans. The system works great. I'm just concerned that it may be working too well. Is it possible to overwater with a capillary mat system? My soil is very saturated, and my peat pots are developing mold. I thought with this system the plants would basically water themselves, but it seems like they are basically just soaking. Any advice would be appreciated. |
