How to plant a flower and even an onion ?

I don't know why I cannot make a flower and even an onion alive for more than one month. I put it in the balcony and give it enough sunshine and water. But it dies finaly. I have tried many times and many flowers, no one keep alive then. I don't know why

Maybe you give it too much water. Before you water stick your finger all the way into the soil and feel for moisture. If it feel wet don't water. Soil dries from the top down and looking dry on top is no indicator of moisture around the roots. I knew someone who watered her pots every morning. Along came a thunderstorm and all her plants died. WHY? too much moisture. Depending on rain and heat and whether the plant is in sun or shade will determine how much moisture a plant needs. A plant in shade requires half the water of one in the sun.
