How to keep plants alive for 7 days

We'll be gone for 7 days....

I kept thinking of how to keep my plants that are under lights from drying out.

So I remembered the self watering outdoor pots that I got my mother in law who is gone for up to 2 weeks at a time....these pots have a reserve area at the bottom that works well.

So I came up with this idea that lifts my cell packs/pots off the bottom of the tray making a reserve area for water of 1/2 inch. I'm useing the jiffy pellet holders left over from their green house seed starter kit (pic below)under my potted plants to raise them.

I think this will work. I only have 3 trays of my own but my husband has 11 trays and he won't try my method.

The lights are timed 16 hours a day and temps kept around 60 degrees.I usually add about 1 quart of water every 3 days. This time it will be almost twice the amount of water(half being in the reserve area).

I already have it set up.

I will reply to this thread and let everyone know the results next week.

I really think this will work.

What do you think?
