Growing under Lights

Yellow CFL

I have a yellow CFL bulb which I intended to use as a bug-light outside, but then I read it was not to be used outside. Is there any use for this yellow bulb in growing? I put it in an ordinary lamp fixture and placed it over some newly sprouted 4 O'Clock seeds, as an experiment. Any ideas if this will work? BTW, it is 13w.

It won't do much good for seedlings being 13w. If the outside fixture is protected from rain I don't see why you can't use it there.

taz is right. They mean don't let it outside where it can get rained on. There really isn't much of a market yet for indoor bug lights, at least in OH!

It would NOT make a good grow light - plants use very little yellow light in photosyntheses.
