Does Anyone Grow Gingers Under Lights?

Would like to grow some tall gingers that ordinarily cannot be grown outside without a longer growing season than what I have here--Alpinia, Hedychium, Zingiber 'Zerumbat'--under a ceiling mounted light. Some of these grow quite tall, and I would have them on the floor under the light.

Has anyone else tried this? If so, what type of light?

Any advice greatly appreciated.

I have kept a few gingers over the winter in the basement light garden. Hedychium coronarium has flowered (probably thanks to a summer outdoors) and stays in fairly good condition on the floor, with its stalks receiving incidental light from a couple of fixtures hanging over neighboring plants. So total lumens are fairly low, but they suffice to keep the plant going during the winter months.
