Could this be a lighting problem?

I am growing lettuce in a hydroponic planter under a fluorescent light. The light is 60 watt bulb. My lettuce is pale and very lengthy. It is also not heading. The PPM is 909 and Ph is 6. The light is 3 feet above the plants. The planter is 2x1. Why is my lettuce pale and lengthy? also why is it not heading?

Because it is growing under far less light than it needs! The bulbs should be just 2-3" above the plants, not 3'. The very worst combo for growing is lots of ferts, little light and high temps. Sounds like you hit the trifecta!

Yep, needs more light. Put the light right on top of it without touching.
