I've been trying to search the same thing and getting various responses. I currently have four 4' t5ho lights about 2" from my one week old (from planting seeds, not from germination) seedlings (various veggies). So far no signs of burning leaves however I've noticed the soil (standard seed starting mix) is drying out faster than normal. Do u have this "problem" as well? Additionally, I fear it will be hard to tell if the light distance is the problem this early in the growth stage because I have no true leaves yet and from what I understand, the cotyledon leaves will typically naturally dry and die off as the true leaves come in. I too am curious for comments from people with experience and will keep you posted on my seedlings at a few inches away.

Jay, I started my tomatoes, peppers, and okra back in Feb under the lights. I kept the lights running 16hr a day and at 8-10" above the plants. I had to water them about every 3rd day. They are doing great and stay outdoors now unless we get below 45degrees.

The smaller the plant, the farther the light. T5HO's are pretty bright. Give seedlings more distance and move them closer as they get larger.
