Difference between t8 32 watt 4100K bulbs and a 40 watt bulb

40 watt bulb being the standard white bulb found at Lowes.

Assuming by 'standard white' you mean 'cool white' (not 'warm white')
Color-wise they're _exactly_ the same thing (4100k is the
color temperature of 'cool white' ('warm white' color temp is
3000k))

The T8 32w _might_ be slightly brighter than a 40w T12
