Growing under Lights

Anyone using T5VHO's?

Just wondering what the heat output is compared to a regular T5 HO system. I am currently using a 6 lamp T5 HO fixture but need more growing room. Considering a 4 lamp fixture either T5 HO or T5 VHO. A T5 VHO 4 lamp system would put out almost as much light as my 6 lamp HO fixture.

HO's and VHO's are less energy efficient then standard fluorescents and give off more heat. I believe that VHO's are slightly less efficient then HO's. The efficiency loss is given off as heat. So for the same total input wattage, VHO's will give off a bit less total light and a bit more heat. The only advantage is that you can concentrate more light in a smaller space. Is that why you want to use 4 VHO's instead of 6HO's?
