homebuilt system (comments please)

I have combined an nft recirculating system with a drip type system. I built it out of 4" ABS and added feeder, or drip lines from the 3/4" pump outlet pipe. In addition to the drip lines to each plant, I have a 1/4" line, at the far end feeding the grow pipe, both running 24/7.
I started the seeds in rockwool & hydroton,on 10-01-09 in plastic mesh baskets under the same feeder conditions, running 24/7. The tomatoes & cucumbers seem to be growing well, so far & look healthy.
I'm looking forward to fresh tomatoes, hopefully xmas.

correct me if im wrong but arent tomatoes a little big to be grown in NFT systems? the root mass for tomatoes and peppers are massive and will easily block your 4" pipe.
