I had the option of getting a 400 w light, but I opted for the smaller. Space was one reason, cooling another, and the cost of electricity.

I only have 11 plants right now, most under 5 inches tall in their pots. The smallest is Aloe descoingsii at 3 inches, and the biggest is A. distans at 12 inches.

Is this enough power for my needs? I think all of these (and maybe a few more in the future) should fit under the reflector. I'm thinking the distans can go in the middle, since it prefers the most intense light, and the rest (light shade lovers) can go around it. What do you think?

If you don't have enough light for the succulents you'll just see the ones around the edges not do as well, which you could supplement with the shop lights or something similar.
