Do plants do better with complete darkness in the night cycle?

Does it even matter?

I'm planning to turn my computer table into a grow fixture, because I use a laptop now. And I'm also planning on getting the easy2grow pots with the valve. is this unnecessary for a newb?

also, can I go a variety of plants under one matal halide light, or do different plants require more or less light time than others?

thanks
sean

The moon and stars emit quite a bit of light. Are you foreseeing more light than that during the rest cycle?

It may be more significant during the flowering cycle of a plant.

Regarding your last question, it really depends on the overall light needs of the plant. I would be cautious of putting a philodendron under an MH system that is on for 14 hours a day because the philodendron is a defused lights type of plant.
