LEDs on movers?

Posted by loneoyster (My Page) on

im setting up a constant flow system, thats long and skinny and that part is basically done, now i just have to choose a lighting system. It seems like nasa likes the leds and they dont mess around. They dont use alot of energy wich is a plus too. The thing is that the leds are pretty steep in price. So i was thinking about putting them on movers. Would that make LEDs the best choice, or can you not put LEDs on movers?

RE: LEDs on movers?

Do you have more details of your setup?
Length, width, is it an NFT in PVC pipes?

Im pretty interested and have been reading up alot on LED for Growing. I would like to see them compete with a 400-600 hps.

What type of power were you thinking of using? 100w or like 300w

I have read alot about 100-200 watt grows, but i havn't read or heard about anything bigger, besides commercial warehouses producing 7000 heads of lettuce a day in Japan.

Please post more details, ty

Yeah Im doing it with 4 in PVC pipes. 4 of them at 20 feet in length and about 5 feet wide. I was thinking using the 300 watt LED but there pretty pricy. So i was checking out those UfOs, but it says the squarfootage on those is only somewhere around 12 square feet. I don't think that would work unless i could put them on movers.
