lighting from below

I have a 10ft tall Dracaena that is doing well in our very dark loft space. I have it 5ft from our north facing window and there is supplemental light from florecent fixtures that bounce light off the ceiling. But i have to move it to a new spot in the space, one that is 20ft from the window and there is no additional light.

I remember hearing somewhere that plants take up more light from the underside of their leaves, and thought i could but a couple of can lights on the floor with grow spots in them.

Would this work? or am i going to cause the plant a slow death?
