do not buy special plant/aquarium light - just get either a cool white (4100K) lamp, or a daylight (5000K) lamp. buy the lamp that has the most lumens - which generally works very fine, and has been used for years with excellent result. do not waste money on fancy lamps because there is absolutely no benefit, except more profit for the store. i assume you are growing seedling - correct?

The best spectrum for vegetative growth tends to be 6500k and the best for flowering / fruiting is 3000k.

As Overdrive said, don't spend the extra on "grow" lights....just find the right spectrum for standard ge or sylvania bulbs.
