T8 are fluorescent tubes that are 1" in diameter.

I agree, nice setup. And I know the feeling! lol I just found out I'm getting a new light setup for xmas and of course this means more plants!

there is a window in the opposite corner of the room, but not much gets through there anyway. i usually leave the blind down so as not to bother my neighbor in the later hours. so no, the plants basically get no natural light.

But how well are the fluorex working out? How long have you had them? I read some negative things about them, but I can't remember if it was for hydroponics or seed starting - makes a difference!

well it's only been about a month now... so far so good. i am growing mostly Catts directly in front of the lights and some Phals, Miltonias, and Oncidiums a little further back. right now, a few of the Phals and a Tolumnia are in spike, and one of the Catts is in sheath.
