Asiatics - how much sun in hot summer climates

Hello, I received a beautiful asiatic lily (Mount Duckling) as a sympathy gift last spring and I want to plant it out in the garden. Most of the leaves have turned yellow and I'm anxious to get it out of the pot and into the garden.

I live in southern CA and we have hot summers (upper 90s, sometimes low 100s). I have garden spots with a northeast exposure (morning sun until 1:00 in summer; bright shade all winter), southeast (direct sun until 1-2 in summer), southwest (sun all day), and southern.

How much sun do they require to bloom well, and how much can they tolerate without burning or fading or requiring extra water?

We have rich clay soil and I always dig a good hole and mix in compost and other stuff.

Jen
