What you're seeing are bulbets that have formed on the stem roots of lilies from previous years. With a little care, these will mature to flowering size bulbs of the same cultivars you planted!

I often like to plant these in a seperate nursery bed so they have adequate room to mature quicker, but they can be left alone, fertilized and well watered during the growing season.

As you can see, they will get VERY crowded if you don't separate them and plant them elsewhere. Asiatics tend to be rampant baby-makers and will crowd themselves out of blooming within 3 years, possibly less, so it's best to plant the bulblets farther apart than they naturally plant themselves. They'll usually take a couple of years to reach blooming size and will be clones of their mother plant. Like azngrnthumbs above, I prefer to plant them in a separate area where their mother plant won't deprive them of sunlight. Plant more shallowly than mature bulbs, about twice as deep as the bulb is tall.

Orientals may or may not make bulblets. They are more likely to increase by bulb division, i.e. the mother bulb splits itself into two bulbs, each with its own stem.
