It's better and easier to move them in the fall. That said, moving now is possible. Dig the planting hole where they will go, then dig up the bulbs. Start digging well away from the stems coming up, you don't want to slice into a bulb and stems don't always come up directly above the bulb. Dig deeper than you think they are. Lily bulbs have contractile roots which means they have the ability to pull themselves deeper into the soil. When digging in the fall, I've found some really large bulbs at a depth of 10 inches or more. When you have the chunk of soil containing the bulbs, settle it in your prepared hole and give it a drink to settle the soil.

I would also say (having done this before in the spring) do it when the soil is dry. ItÂs easier to tell/sense when you are hitting a bulb, and easier physically to pop out the more-dense bulb from looser soil. Use a pitchfork rather than a shovel, and insert it a foot away from the sprout and lift gently. Wiggle it a lot. Put it back in a few inches to the right or left (following an imaginary circle) and repeat.
