I have this lily and I have mixed feelings about it. I enjoy the rare and unusual form, but the flowers have not opened well for me; therefore, it created a messy looking plant with the tepals browning as the buds opened and the top buds aborted. I will be trying it in a different location where it gets a little shade to see if it performs any better.

There are several double flowered orientals on the market that are all pretty similiar. 'Double Prize' is one of them and I've heard all originated from the great pink standard, 'Marco Polo'.

As for price, because this is such a "breakthrough" in lily development, it will continue to be more expensive compared to the standard oriental hybrids. Also, I'm not sure if it's being grown for the cut flower market. If so, the price of the bulbs should come down as more and more are being propagated for cut flower production.

I can vouch for Double Prize. Nice double form, pretty vigorous even in the first year. Good length of bloom...not messy looking...a bit pricey but the look was worth it.
