What happened to my Lilium candidum?

Last year I bought three Lilium candidum bulbs and planted them in three 10 liter pots. (About 3cm deep) The temperature in last winter was -17C. I did have protection around the pots, but not on top of them. Now there isn't any sign of growing. I wonder what happened to them. Are they frozen? The photo below shows how they look like now.

Here is a link that might be useful: Lilium candidum

dont worry, they have just been a bit frosted. Your bulbs might not habe been flowering sized though, as they should be showing shoots....keep them fairly dry in summer, and then wetter again in autumn and winter. They are a medditerranean species, used to warm, dry summers, when they go dormant, and humid, mild winters, when their overwintering leaf rosettes grow. they like a very sandy, gritty mix
