You can easily post pics on the forum using Photobucket, a free service. If it's a lily, may be an Asiatic lily, but we'll need the pic first. Do you have it planted in the ground yet?

Lol, it is not a lily! But good news, that is a EASY plant to keep.

It's an amaryllis. The flowers die off about a week or so after they open. At this point cut off the stalk, repot the bulb into a bigger pot full of fresh potting soil mixed with some compost. Put it in filtered sunlight for the summer and water 2 or 3 times a week.

In fall, about Sept. 15, put it in a closet. Stop watering it. The leaves will die off. Leave it in the closet until Dec. 1st. Then drag it out, water it well once a week, put it in a sunny window and you'll have blossoms for Christmas, or New Year's.

Then you do the whole thing all over again.
